| Customer
Plotting The answer to many markting and sales questions addresses this issue: Where are our customers? Whether you want to expand your market area, evaluate your marketing plan or find new business, the geographic distribution of your customers is often critical. Mapping begins by geocoding each of your customers. This process tells you within which geographic area each customer is located, such as a ZIP Code or Census Tract. Then, the system counts up the customers in each area. Next, select the area that represents your market area. Then, draw the map showing the distribution of your customers. Add company locations and demographic data to the map for a more extensive market study. |

Density Study Customer plotting is one way to answer the question: Where are our customers? Dot Density maps are another approach. Once again, mapping begins by geocoding each of your customers. This time, however, process tells you precisely where each customer is located, often to the actual place on a street. Next, select the area that represents your market area. Then, draw the map showing the distribution of your customers. A "dot" or other symbol locates each customer. Use symbol type and color to add information about each customer. As with Customer Plotting, you can add company locations and demographic data to the map for a more extensive market study. |
