Convert records from spreadsheets, contact managers, databases,
and phone directories to symbols on a map. Use BusinessMAP 4 to view your employee
or client distribution and See where you have good market penetration and areas that
are weak. BusinessMAP 4 allows you to perform color-code analysis according to type of
client or employee and geographic searches. Plot by street address, 3 and 5-digit
ZIP code, county name/FIPS code, or latitude and longitude. To plot locations in
other countries you will need a latitude and longitude. Optional data is available
for Canada and Europe to enable you to plot by Postal Code or street address.
BusinessMAP reads data in various formats, and also integrates
with popular contact management software such as ACT!, GoldMine, Outlook,
and Excel. A BusinessMAP button can be added to the toolbar of these applications
whereby you can launch BusinessMAP and create a map of selected records
or contacts. This integration also allows you to start work in BusinessMAP
and send results back to other applications. An example is to select contacts
in BusinessMAP by location and send results back to your contact manager
for a mail merge.

BusinessMAP allows you to manage and balance sales and service regions,
territories, and districts. States, counties, three and five-digit ZIP
Codes, census tracts, and city limits--virtually any geographic area or
combination of areas--can be used in creating sales or service territories.
BusinessMAP includes an engine to structure territories by sales, number
of customers, and service providers.
Territories can be created quickly or more interactively by letting BusinessMAP
automatically create territories using your database of geography assignments.
Different geographic boundaries can be mixed such as counties and ZIP
Codes in your territory design.
BusinessMAP contains a four-level hierarchical territory design engine.
This allows you to construct territories and group them into national,
regional, and local areas, etc. Data can be summarized by territory or
region to analyze performance and make decisions concerning territory
realignment.
BusinessMAP allows you to perform territory balancing, a feature normally
only available in packages costing thousands of dollars. Instead of shading
areas on a paper map, you can create a territory map that can be easily
updated and reprinted as territory sales volume or sales representatives
change.
In addition, BusinessMAP reduces the time involved in creating sales
and service territories. You can split the country into regions using
revenue by state, service centers by county, or telemarketing regions
by ZIP Code. By creating maps using only those states you want in each
territory, you have instant access to accurate information by region.
Call planning is even easier with optimized routing and the ability
to search along your driving route. You can even connect a GPS receiver
to get second-by-second updates on your position.
For example, a medical equipment salesperson planning to visit hospitals
in two cities could add a BusinessMAP Dun & Bradstreet database of
nursing care facilities to the map. It is then easy to search along the
driving route to find facilities to visit, add them to the route, and
recalculate the route with driving directions to all chosen stops.
BusinessMAP also has geographic query capabilities that find all points
(representing clients or prospects) within a circle, rectangle, or polygon
that you choose on the map.
BusinessMAP is GPS enabled so it is now possible to locate and track
your position using a standard GPS receiver that supports NMEA 2.0 or
higher and has a PC connection.
BusinessMAP helps organizations integrate maps into their reports.
With BusinessMAP, users can create reports in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint
using pre-defined templates or create their own.
BusinessMAP includes report templates such as:
- Automotive Aftermarket Expenditures
- County Market Profile
- Disposable Income Profile by ZIP Code
- Disposable Income Profile by Census Tract
- Census Tract Ring Study
- Financial Expenditures
- Medical Expenditures
- Net Worth Profile by ZIP Code
- Net Worth Profile by Census Tract
- Restaurant Market Potential
- Demographic Profile
- Income Profile
- Dealer Sales by Product
- Sales and Per Capita Income by ZIP Code
- Business Summary
In addition to the pre-set templates, you can create "Simple
Reports" whereby the current map and database selection are pasted
into Word, Excel, or PowerPoint as specified.
Report templates can be created using either of two methods - using
VBA script or using markup tags. The markup tags allow you to create simple
templates. For more robust templates, those familiar with programming
can create templates using VBA script as in the ones listed above.
BusinessMAP offers full map customization capability. Users can choose
which map layers appear on the map, colors, line thickness, labeling,
and map symbols. BusinessMAP can filter the map to show one or several
states or define an area of interest that consists only of your selected
grouping of ZIP Codes, counties, or census tracts.
With BusinessMAP, users have a variety of methods to publish and share
their maps and analysis. Maps can be printed ranging in size from large
wall charts to page inserts for day planners. Maps can be saved in a variety
of digital formats--.bmp, .jpg, .tif, .gif, .eps, .png, .tga, .pcx, .wmf,
.emf, and .htm (Web page) for use with other applications. Maps and step-by-step
driving directions can be transferred to any device using the Palm operating
system.
BusinessMAP takes your business information and creates meaningful
maps from rows and columns of data. Suddenly, revenue by region, advertising
campaigns, and market concentrations are simple to analyze.
BusinessMAP supports mapping of both raster and vector data. By supporting
vector data, BusinessMAP allows data to be displayed as interactive pushpin
or color-coded maps representing sales, population, and competitive activity.
Raster maps used in travel planners are static and do not allow color
coding.
BusinessMAP includes more than 500 U.S. Census 2000-based demographic
variables provided down to the census tract level by ESRI Business Information
Solutions. More than 500 consumer expenditure variables for automotive,
insurance, financial, restaurant, retail spending, and medical industries
are included at the state and county levels. This data is useful for many
types of customer and prospecting analyses. BusinessMAP also contains
all new geographic data (ZIP Codes, streets, etc.) with high-quality maps.
In addition, BusinessMAP reduces the time involved in creating sales
and service territories. You can split the country into regions using
revenue by state, service centers by county, or telemarketing regions
by ZIP Code. By creating maps using only those states you want in each
territory, you have instant access to accurate information by region.

BusinessMAP 4 allows you to import many different types of database formats including:
.dbf, .db, .mdb, .txt, .sac, .csv, .xls, .wk3, and .wk4.
The software will also link with ACT!, GoldMine, Outlook, and Excel.
Launch BusinessMAP from within the application or create a group
of contacts from a geographic search and send the results back to your
contact manager.
You can also export any of the database fields as a .dbf or .txt
(comma or tab-delimited) file.
Or simply copy the records you want from the database and paste
into a Word or Excel document.
Besides
importing a database, BusinessMAP 4 also allows you to import various
file types to use as map layers including: .shp, .bml, .sdc, .024, .025,
and .pht. In order to add raster image formats such as .gif, .jpeg, .tif, .png,
or .bmp they must be georeferenced. This means that the image file needs an associated file that
provides the coordinates of the image.
BusinessMAP also gives you various formats to choose from when saving the map.
To modify the map later in BusinessMAP you will need to save as .bml
file. Otherwise
you can choose from various image formats including: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .tif,
.pcx, .png, .tga, .eps, .wmf, .emf, .htm, or .html. When saving the map as an image you can choose to save only the
map, only the legend, or save the map and legend together. You can also download maps and step-by-step driving directions to
any organizer that uses the Palm operating system.
Each layer within BusinessMAP 4 is fully customizable by the user. You can control the
background color, line thickness, and line color. Also choose whether you want the labels
visible. Since this is a layered map, you can turn layers on and off so only the detail
you want is shwoing.
Use the query tools in BusinessMAP 4 to find what cities, ZIP codes, counties, etc.
are contained within a certain area. Results are highlighted and displayed in the
database window.

Additional data can be purchased for BusinessMAP to augment out of
the box functionality. BusinessMAP can read a variety of data types
including vector, raster, and traditional GIS data formats such as
.shp files. Satellite imagery, topographic maps, elevation models, and
other data expand the breadth of problems that BusinessMAP can solve.
Topographic maps are the recognized standard for land use detail
and infrastructure mapping. All 58,000 maps have been seamlessly merged
together and are available on CD by state at a scale of 1:24/25,000 and
1:100,000 (except for Alaska which is 1:63,360 and 1:125,000). These maps
are excellent for emergency assistance, site selection, surveying, real
estate, planning, and more.
Order Information.
Over 180,000 high-resolution 1-meter Orthographic Aerial Photos are
available through an Internet downloading service. View aerial photos of
your own residential or commercial properties, prospective sites and more.
Aerial photos are a perfect addition to BusinessMAP whenever you need photo
accuracy.

Digital elevation city maps
provide stunning 3D shaded relief images. Not only does this add depth,
quality and richness to maps but it also reveals such topological features
as mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakebeds. These maps make it easier to
recognize natural land barriers and understand why some areas are densely
populated and other areas remain undeveloped. More than 200 cities are
available on this optional CD.
With the addition of optional European dataset, BusinessMAP is now
an international product. Other add-on datasets such as U.S. topographic
maps, aerial photos and digital elevation city maps make BusinessMAP a
compelling program suite.
European data include municipal boundaries, highways, roads, city streets,
rivers, lakes, and cities are all available for the following countries: Austria,
Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Poland, The Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Portugal,
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden. Add databases by individual
country or all of these countries at once. Expand your business in Europe with BusinessMAP!
